Former Notre Dame Big East Player of the Year and 10 Season NBA Veteran Pat Garrity Joins Career Athletes Advisory Board!

Career Athletes is very excited that Pat Garrity has agreed to join its Advisory Board.  Career Athletes is founded on the belief that the demands and challenges student-athletes face prepare them for success in all facets of life by developing traits such as teamwork, dedication and competitiveness.  Pat epitomizes the traits upon which Career Athletes is founded by not only graduating from an outstanding academic institution such as Notre Dame, but graduating magna cum laude in pre-med while also being named the Big East basketball player of the year.  Pat went on to have an outstanding professional career while continuing to be an exceptional role model for all student-athletes. We look forward to utilizing Pat's leadership and experience to grow and strengthen the Career Athletes brand!


 Mr. Patrick Garrity is a retired professional basketball player from the National Basketball Association.  Mr. Garrity's career spanned ten seasons.  He was drafted 19th overall in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.  Mr. Garrity played his rookie season in Phoenix before being traded to the Orlando Magic in the summer of 1999.  He played nine seasons for the Orlando Magic.

Mr. Garrity's appeared in 552 regular season games during his NBA career.  He led the Magic for four consecutive seasons in three point field goal percentage from 1999 to 2003 and ranks fourth in franchise history in three point field goals made.  He also ranks second in franchise history in games played.  In 2001 and again in 2003, he participated in the 1-800-CALL-ATT® Three Point Shootout at the NBA's annual All Star Weekend.  Mr. Garrity served three terms on the executive committee of National Basketball Player's Association as secretary/treasurer. 

Mr. Garrity was raised in Monument, Colorado and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Science Pre Professional Studies (pre med) from the University of Notre Dame.  Mr. Garrity was named the Big East Player of the Year for men's basketball in 1997, the Big East Student Athlete of the Year for men's basketball in 1998, NABC/Chevrolet Second Team all-American and the GTE Academic All American of the Year for men's basketball in 1998.  While at the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Garrity also performed research aimed at the discovery, characterization and synthesis of novel antibiotic drugs for the organic chemistry laboratory of Dr. Paul Helquist.  In 1998, he was one of two honorees for the school's most prestigious award for student athletes, the Byron V. Kanaley award.
