Career Athletes Assists Student-Athletes with Resume Development
Top career education provider launches nationwide student-athlete resume month

Olathe, KS - As student-athletes plan for spring graduation, many are wondering how they will have the time to prepare for life after college athletics.  With practices, championships, and finals, how does a student-athlete have the time to develop an effective resume?

Career Athletes is able to provide student-athletes the ability to gain valuable resume feedback with the simple click of a button during nationwide student-athlete resume month.

Throughout the month of April, student-athletes at over 160 Career Athletes partner institutions will be able to submit their resume for free critique and development through their account on

Since 1998, Career Athletes has conducted career training and development seminars for more than 260,000 student-athletes throughout the country providing much needed career education seminars.  Now, Career Athletes provides a national online network where student-athletes have 24/7 access to career education through the "My Career Resource Center" and the ability to create a professional network with over 80,000 current and former college athletes as well as hundreds of companies and recruiters.   Student-Athlete resume month highlights just one of several career educational pieces as part of the online network, resume development.

"Student-athletes possess many valuable traits that employers are searching for in their next hire.  Career Athletes wants to ensure that student-athletes know their experiences competing in collegiate athletics is a valuable piece to a resume," said DJ Washington, Vice President of Training and Development at Career Athletes.

"Resume month allows Career Athletes to focus all of our career educational efforts on a much needed aspect of student-athlete development.  Without taking much time, student-athletes can prepare for their future by creating an impacting resume with our assistance," explained Washington, who is also a former basketball student-athlete at Union College.

This past November, close to 100 student-athletes helped Career Athletes pilot resume month by submitting their resume for individual feedback to the Career Athletes Training & Development Team.

"Career Athletes' resume month was an excellent opportunity for our athletes to get honest, professional feedback on their resumes," said Kim Martin, Assistant Director for Life Skills at the University of Missouri.

"The Career Athletes staff did a phenomenal job getting back to each athlete quickly and with detailed, specific advice for improving their resume. Our athletes had nothing but positive feedback about the opportunity and are hoping Career Athletes does it again in the future!"
