Billiken Athletics Partners with Career Athletes

In an effort to offer Saint Louis University student-athletes more career development and professional networking opportunities, the Department of Athletics has announced a partnership with Career Athletes, the leading provider of dedicated career development services and software within collegiate athletics.
"Throughout their experience in intercollegiate athletics, our student-athletes develop a diverse skill set that can create tremendous success in the real world," said SLU Director of Athletics Chris May. "We, as a department, have a duty to promote an understanding of these skills among our student-athletes and assist them in cultivating those abilities to prepare them for life beyond college. Our partnership with Career Athletes authenticates our commitment to developing Billiken student-athletes, while providing them with opportunities to leverage their futures."
Billiken Athletics is no stranger to success as indicated by the following recent academic and athletic achievements:
- 38 student-athletes achieved a 4.0 grade point average or straight A's during the Fall 2010 semester
- 89 student-athletes were named to the Fall 2010 Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll (min. 3.5 semester GPA)
- 181 student-athletes were named Blue-Scholar Billikens for earning a Fall 2010 semester GPA of 3.0 or better
- Billiken student-athletes posted an average GPA of 3.14 during the fall 2010 semester
- Six Billikens achieved Academic All-Conference honors during the 2010-11 academic year
- During the 2010-11 academic year, three Billikens earned Individual Atlantic 10 Conference titles, two student-athletes have been honored as A-10 Rookie of the Year in their respective sports, nine Bills have been awarded All-Conference plaudits and seven student-athletes have garnered All-Rookie team honors
- 56 student-athletes graduated from the University in Spring 2010
- Billiken Athletics finished the 2009-10 academic year with a 3.124 GPA
- SLU teams and individuals combined for eight postseason appearances and seven Atlantic 10 Conference championships in 2009-10
Career Athletes builds and maintains customized career networking web sites for individual university athletic departments providing additional career education, mentors, access to career opportunities and potential employers upon graduation. It also provides a unique platform to connect with athletic alumni, who are encouraged to join the network as mentors and/or job seekers.
